As a black nerd, finding a community of fellow black nerds is a challenge. The term “blackness” has been circulated and exchanged for so long that it’s an abstract commodity — it’s value determined only in how it is used. For me, this is the “blackest” show around, because their topics defy any fixed definition of the term.
Anyway, comedian Elon James White (of This Week in Blackness fame) found a perfect cocktail of co-hosts in Bassey Ikpi, (writer, mental health advocate, and mom to Boogie) and Aaron Freeman (sci-fi enthusiast and often the Felix to Elon’s Oscar).
I frakking love this show. Nothing like a group of black nerds talking about this and that of our daily lives with wit, self-deprecation, and ratchetness.
